National Association of Insurance Women Maine Council |
Maine State Council History: In 1981, women from across the State of Maine gathered to form a group composed of representatives of NAIW members of the various associations within the State. The purpose was to foster better communication between the members of those associations given the size of the state, provide support to the local associations, and to keep members informed of what was happening on the regional and national levels. There were six local associations at the time: Andy Valley, Aroostook, Central Maine, Downeast, Eastern Maine, and Greater Portland. About our Association: For more than 60 years NAIW has been serving its member by providing professional education, an environment in which to build business alliances, and the opportunity to make connections with people of different career paths in the insurance and risk management industries. NAIW International is dedicated to the professional development of its members and the insurance and risk management industries through innovative education programs and meetings offered at the local, state, regional, and national levels. Membership is open to insurance and risk management professionals in all areas of these industries. NAIW International's diverse membership provides unique opportunities for members to connect with professionals in all areas and obtain information needed to succeed in our ever changing industry. Leadership development is an integral part of NAIW's perpetration of the insurance and risk management industries. NAIW is recognized for the development of leadership skills that members utilize with NAIW and their professional careers. |
MAINE COUNCIL HORIZON PLAN Membership Development & Retention Continue communication with local members to ensure that they see themselves as members of a greater part of NAIW at the State level through the newsletter and attending local meetings as necessary. To share ideas with local associations/members to promote belonging as "good business." To promote involvement in activities, education, and local & state meetings. To ensure that meetings and activities offered are of interest to the largest majority of members in order to preserve continued membership and to enable members to increase their understanding of the NAIW triangle, which encompasses Fellowship, Education, and Loyalty. Education Offer educational scholarships on the State level and find sponsors for them on an ongoing basis. Have the education/scholarship committee be responsible for the guidelines, judging, and donations.
